Biography

The lead portrait is a corner of a room lined with black acoustic foam, the wedge-cut panels used to deaden a recording space. She sits on a white table with her knees drawn up, blonde hair to the shoulder, thin metal glasses, a dark crop top, bright blue shorts, white over-the-knee socks with two black stripes and white high-top canvas sneakers. The light comes hard from the left, so half the face is bright and half falls into shadow. Everything in the frame belongs to the vocabulary of live broadcast and gaming rooms: the foam, the socks, the shoes, the desk surface. It is a set built to look like a place where someone spends time.

Which brings the name back around. A billing made of an adjective has to be lived up to, and the promise here is closeness: the sense that a viewer is near a person rather than a product. That is the same promise the acoustic foam makes, and the same one the ordinary alias keeps in reserve.
